My organization is in the process of upgrading from Acrobat XI to Acrobat 2017 (Classic track). It's been brought to my attention that a user has a collection of PDF documents that prompt for a password when she attempts to edit them. Those same documents were editable without a password prior to the upgrade. If we roll the user back to Acrobat XI, she can continue to edit. But if she is upgraded to 2017, the same documents prompt for password.
I'm having a difficult time determining whether the problem is that Acrobat XI ignored the protection mechanism, or whether 2017 is flagging these documents as protected when it shouldn't be. Obviously we don't want to roll back to Acrobat XI as it's out of support. I don't personally use Acrobat as I'm responsible for packaging and deploying it only. Any advice on troubleshooting would be greatly received.
