Acrobat XI Placing Signatures

I have a Acrobat Xi trial version and I cant "PLACE a signature. When I hit the "Sign' Pane I see a place signature button, but when I hit it, intead of my seeing the saved image file signature that I use regularly in Reader XI, I get a dialog to hit a "Drag new signature rectangle button". When I hit this button, I get the "Add Digital ID dialolg" which is not what I want. I want to place a simple signatre like you can do in READER XI.
