Document signed by a third-party application shows the signature only if I wait

Hi everybody,

With Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, Version 2015.023.20070, there is a strange behavior when I try to open a PDF containing a digital signature on Page 2.

If I open and scroll very fast to the second page, the signature does not show up and the page is blank. I can only see the signature frame if I pass the mouse over it. If I click on it, Reader freezes and I have to hard kill the application.

On the contrary, if I wait a few seconds after the opening, everything is fine : the signature, the page, no freeze.

The signature is produced by a third-party application, surely the problem comes from it. But to add more complexity, the developers don't have the time to look at this concern... Consequently, I have to find a solution, but I don't even know what to check.

Has anyone ever encountered this problem ? What should I check ?

Thanks !

Password adding automatically

We automatically create PDf files with a Broad Cast Agent of Business Objects (about 150 PDFs per day). Directly after the PDF is created it is send automatically by mail. We like to protect those PDFs for editing. Therefore we can add a password to each PDF but therefore we have to open each PDF by hand. Does anyone know a solution for adding a password automatically to the PDF?

error code 2148073478

Hello,

I am trying to sign a pdf with an e-signature from a tokendevice with a id card. Adobe finds the device easy enough and even show it as default selection. When i try to sign the document i get error code 2148073478. Windows supplier for cryptography has reported an error. Invalid signature. The token device and id is called Bank-id, a Swedish Product for e-signing, and it is valid for Everything else i use it for.

I have used this method Before, but it seams to have broken when we upgraded to Pro. Anyone have an idea of what the error code is for?

BR,

Jonas

How do I create PDF with password protection using Excel/VBA

I have a program that creates Excel files and converts them to PDF (Export As Fixed Format). Now I need to add password on open to the PDF files. How do I do that? Any help would be recommended.

Also, on a similar note printing word to pdf has encrypt with password feature but printing excel to pdf does not. Highly recommend you add this feature to PDF.

Digital Signature Bug: "Retrieving your information"

I have seen this same question asked several times, but do not see any solutions. Figured I'd ask again and explain the steps I've taken. This bug started about a week ago. Prior to that, I have been able to apply a signature without issue for years. When I go to add a signature, the right pane shows "Retrieving your information" indefinitely, and the "Sign" icon just spins and spins as shown in the following screenshot:

This happens with every PDF

What I've tried already:

1. Uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat

2. "Repair Installation"

Software Specs:
1. Windows 7 Professional SP-12. Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2015-023-20070

PDF displays errors when attempting to sign or save. Need a fix.

Often when I attempt to sign various PDFs I'm presented with three errors reading as follows.

adobe 1.PNG

Adobe 2.PNG

Adobe 3.PNG

This is a big issue because I have at least one of these to push through every day.

Have any of you seen this before?

Acrobat keeps asking for Id File.

I have been using digital signatures on PDF documents for about 10 or 15 years no problem. I sign batches of documents, and the most efficient way is to load an existing (signed) document that is close to what I want, then clear the signature, amend the document and then resign the document. for the next document, rinse and repeat.

About two months ago, Acrobat did not offer me the option of clearing the signature. After some frustration, I created a new document from scratch and attempted to sign it. It then asked me for my Id File. AHA! I thought. It has lost my Id File. So I pointed it at my Id File, and signed the document, and after that everything was fine. However, the next day, same thing again. It is as though it forgets all about my Id file the moment I shut it down.

No, nothing changed during the period. Same version of Windows (10), same version of Acrobat (XI) same computer, and same me.

Greatly appreciate any advice. It is driving me nuts, especially when I am in a hurry and the client is breathing down my virtual neck.

Timestamp always uses SHA1 for hash algorithm and ignores HashAlgo settings

After SHAttered we are attempting to change the default hash algorithm for timestamps in Adobe Reader DC 2015.020.20042 from SHA1 to SHA256.

All attempts to override the default setting have failed and the resulting hash for the timestamp signature as displayed in Signature Properties, Advanced Properties is always SHA1.

I've used the following registry settings according to the documentation in HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\Security\cASPKI\cAdobe_TSPProvider with several different timestamp servers:

sHashAlgo

iHashAlgo

If I set an invalid value Acrobat displays an error message "Unsupported hash algorithm" which indicates that the settings are being read.

Appreciate any help,

Nick

Hi there,

I don't want adobe to save signature ones document is sign, for example if I click on fill & Sign - add signature - and created my signature to sign the document I see there is an option in bottom which say save signature,  is there any way I can permanently remove this option. so that adobe don't save signature for future use.

Thank You.

Secure PDF automatically

Greetings, I am looking for a way to ensure that our automatically generated pdf production reports are secure from editing. We are pharmaceutical manufacturing company and this is a matter of  regulatory compliance. Reports are automatically printed to pdf at the end of production run. Ideally, I would like to not only protect them from editing but generate an audit trail or alternatively, make altered file unreadable/unprintable. Please let me know if this is something that you can help us with. Thanks!

Adobe's validation of a PAdES LTV and validation time

$

When Adobe validates a LTV signature:

* when validating the signer's certifecate, it's validated on the timestamp date. Ok

* but when validating the document timestamp's certificate, it's validated on its own timestamp date !!??

What does it mean?

If I change the date of my system to a date when the timestamp certificate is expired, Adobe says all the LTV signature is OK. !!??

Since the timestamp's certificate was valid when the timestamp was created, then this means that Adobe will consider this LTV eternally valid?

Instead of requiring another document timestamp before previous timestamp expiration.

According to PAdES LTV standard (ETSI TS 102 778-4 V1.1.2):

    4.3 Validation Process

It is recommended that that validation process be as follows:

    1) The "latest" document Time-stamp should be validated at current time with validation data collected at the current time.

    2) The "inner" document Time-stamp should be validated at previous document Time-stamp time with the validation data present (and time-stamped for the successive     enveloping time-stamps) in the previous DSS.

    3) The signature and the signature Time-stamp should be validated at the latest innermost LTV document Time-stamp time using the validation data stored in the DSS and     time-stamped (by the successive enveloping time-stamps)

Why is Adobe validating the latest document timestamp using its own timestamp date instead of validating it using the current time?

I've detected it in Acrobat Reader DC.

Thanks a lot in advance,

Enric

I sent a form to be digitally signed by someone and when they sent it back the digital signature block had strange symbols in it. It looks like wingdings maybe? Is there anyway to fix this or recover the signatures?

A coworker sent me a form and I cannot open it.  It requires a password and I do not recall setting this up.  Would the coworker be the one to tell me the password to the file she sent or is there somewhere to find the password on my page?
