I'm using adobe reader XI and in some documents the security signing is "not allowed".

What is the best way to create a "signing allowed" pdf? Which software should I use?

Extracting Embedded Files From a PDF with Adobe.APS

I'm not sure if this needs to be here in security or if it needs to be in another forum, so if an admin feels it needs to move to a different forum, feel free to.

The situation I am in is that I get about 100-150 pdf's a day that I need to extract an embeeded file from.  Right now this is a completely manual process and is very time consuming.  What I have been trying to do is automate the process of extraction.

The issue I am running into is that the files are encrypted with Adobe.APS, and so my java code won't handle the security, and I can't find any other software that handles Adobe.APS.

I was wondering if Adobe had a product that could do this, or if there was an API that could handle this.  I can perform the extraction on a platform of any flavor (Windows, Mac, Linux, etc...).

Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciatted.  Thanks.

I have a group of people who generate documents that must be signed by a recommender and then by an approver.  This document must also be encrypted with a pwd for opening since it will be sent by email to another location.  Is there a way to perform this operation?

I created several forms in acrobat X pro; however, several people are not able to sign the documents. The signature box is selected, but they cannot enter any text. I had them download the latest version of reader, but that is not helping. Appreciate your guidance.

"Compare documents" does not work with mild security settings enabled?

Is there any way to use the "compare documents" feature without violating security restrictions on a document? My firm has to regularly compare old and new versions of PDFs received from a vendor who does not provide us with the document password. It would be hugely beneficial to be able to use the "compare documents" feature for this but I am currently unable to. If we can figure this out it would give us a strong incentive for the rest of us to upgrade to pro.

The "sign document" function is not working in Adobe Acrobat X 10.1.8?

I had an issue with Adobe Acrobat erroring with an error message relative to the Crypto file in Windows.  I attempted to do the file folder renamaing to 'old', etc. to no avail.  When I tried to restore everything to it's original state, the sign document window appears (see below), but when I click on the sign document buttone, nothing happens at all.  I have tried this in multiple documents, through multiple siging routes, and all the same non-result.  I have also reinstalled Acrobat to no avail; advice?

How to stop an embedded PDF online from being copied and pasted?

I have an issue which I need assistance with please.

I can secure a PDF file using Adobe Acrobat XI and it disables it from being copied and pasted (right-click brings no such options) but, when I upload it online (to Wordpress) and link to it then it opens in Adobe Reader (or whatever PDF viewer the user has installed on their computer) and because of this they can highlight the text and right-click and then copy and paste it to a Word document and such, even though this was not possible in Adobe Acrobat XI but as soon as it goes online it is possible.  How can this be prevented?

Basically I want to embed PDF's online for others to read and view directly online but I want to disable them from copying and pasting text - can this be done?

Many thanks.

Ian

Is there a way to redact a digitally signed document?

Have set up a form which requires two digital signatures, one by the person submitting the form and one by the supervisor approving the form.  After a thirty day period, there is a section of the form which no longer applies and the information needs to be removed by redaction.  My problems lies with the digital signatures locking up the form and not allowing any further editing.  I have set it so the supervisor can go in and fill in their part of the form.

Sign a form without saving as a new file

It would be nice if someone could help with an Acrobat XI forms problem:

If I add a signature (within a form field) I can't save the file with the same name. The procedure always suggests to "save as ..." with a specific file name.It is possible  to overwrite the given file name what I like to avoid. I only want to add changes to the existing file - sign and save.

Restrict printing of a form with digital signatures

I hope this isn't a duplicate question...  Please forgive me if it is; I did search the forums first.

I have a form that requires a digital signature from several people as it gets emailed from one person to the next.  Unfortunately, some of the people can't grasp the concept of digitally signing the form, therefore they print the form, sign it with a pen, scan it, and email it. (Very frustrating...)

Is there a way to prevent them from printing the form while still allowing me to print it once I receive it. I'm the last person in the signing chain and need the ability to print a hard copy listing all the digital signatures.

Thank  you so much for the advice! I really appreciate it!

Problems with filling out/going back and editing filled out information and signing forms

Users cannot fully fill out, edit and save forms--

the forms were set up in InDesign CS6, then edited in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 for all the form info and after that was set up the forms were saved as extended pdfs to allow adobe reader users to fill them out and sign.

The users are having all kinds of issues with the forms and its been difficult to pin point the exact cause.

Here are 2 errors:

This document enabled extended features in Adobe reader. This document has been changed since it was created and use of extended features is no longer available. Please contact the author for the original version of this document.

The security settings on this document prevent adding text and/or placing a signature on it from Adobe Reader. To fill out and sign this document you need to print it out.

---I've checked the security on the form and there is no security not allowing them to fill it out and I believe that originally they were able to but the form was saved and then they went back and were unable to edit it. I need to know if its something I need to do on my end or an instruction I need to give to them--steps to filling out and saving programs vesions to use etc..

sorry for some of the holes in the info. the form was created for a client and they sent it out to their employees so I do not have direct contact with the people having the issues just two screenshots, and I have not been able to find an answer that works--this is what I thought would help but it didnt:

It should solve the signature/adding text  issue—From : http://forums.adobe.com/thread/987256

Your user should go to Extended pane in Reader to apply a digital signature to the Reader extended PDF.

The user is probably trying to use the Sign pane in Reader which has some options disabled according to the document permissions. The new Sign pane in Reader is an integration with Adobe EchoSign service in the sense that it enables an end user to fill-up documents, electronically sign and then send a PDF document, without having the need to print them. The Sign pane provides two options to the user:

1 - Fill and Sign: Here the user can place text using 'Add Text'. Users can add arbitrary text to a PDF, eg. in documents where Reader cannot interact with the document even though the document looks like a form, in forms where user cannot save the filled-up form. In such cases the only option a user has is to print the form, fill it and then fax or fedex the filled up document to the author or scan it and send it electronically. Using the Sign pane in Reader, a user can add text and also electronically sign the document (this is not the same as digital signature) using an image of their signature. He can create a 'signature' from a scanned paper which has user's handwritten signature and place it on the PDF.

2 - Send for Signature: Here the user is sent to EchoSign for collecting signatures from others.

PDFs Requiring Password to Open When That Option is NOT Configured

TSPAM:

Problem: PDFs that were created WITHOUT a password required to open are asking for passwords before they will open.

Expected Result: PDFs should open without asking for an open password unless they were configured to require a password to open.

Analysis: PDFs were created via export from InDesign CS6 to PDF Version 1.7 (Adobre PDF Library 10.0.1). Document restrictions were defined as, Allowed: Printing, Content Copying for Accessibility, Commenting, Filling in Form Fields, Signing, Creation of Template Pages; other abilities Not Allowed. Restrictions use password security. Require a password to open is NOT set active.

Once posted online, several users report that the PDFs are requiring a password to open.

I can't duplicate that behavior--meaning that I'm never prompted for an open password--in Acrobat X or XI on Windows 7x64 or Mac OS 10.8x or in Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Safari on those systems.

User has to save document after electronically signing

$

Hello all,

I created a fillable PDF with multiple Electronic Signature fields. When testing out the document, I entered my electronic signature, which I was able to enter without any problems. The issue is that after entering the signature, I am required to save the PDF. I had a version of this document from last year and it didn't require me to save after entering a signature. I'm using Adobe Acrobat 9, so I'm not sure if this is why this is ocurring, but I don't want everyone that signs the document to have to save it, I'd rather them save it when they are finished completing the form. Is there a way to disable this? I spent alot of time going through the forum and googling, but couldn't find anything about disabling this feature.

Thanks in advance,

Tina

Problems with securing PDF document with certificates, recipients listed as "unknown"

$

I'm trying to secure PDF with certificates.  I've created self-signed user certificate in our domain which has auto-enrolled to users and certificates have been saved to active directory. I've configured directory server and I can search for users in our domain and set their permissions in Adobe Acrobat but when I save the document and reopen it all recipients are shown as "unknown" in "Select recipients" window, except our domain root certificate and my certificate. Sometimes this happens immeadiately after saving, when opening document next time, but sometimes recipient list shows correctly after reopening document and those recipients can actually open protected document, but it changes later to show users as "unknown" and then they cant open document anymore. What am I doing wrong?
