Will there be a Brainpool Curve support for ECC signatures in Adobe Reader?

According to this post: elliptic curves  Adobe Reader only supports specific curves in elliptic cryptography and therefore brainpoolP256r1 is not supported. When I sign the document using brainpool curve I get verification error:

Error during signature verification.

Error encountered while validating:

Internal cryptographic library error.

Error Code: 0x2711

Will these curves be supported in the future releases of Adobe Reader?

Best PDF protection procedure to prevent conversion attempts by web programs (such as "Small Pdf")

Hi everyone, I would like to know if is it available in the Adobe pro DC version a procedure to fully protect a pdf document preventing any chance to extract contents or convert the file by adopting several common programs on the web (such as "Small Pdf"). Indeed, I have already protected the file with the "password procedure" but I would like to discover if some other procedure can guarantee a stronger protection. Thank you very much in advance for the support.

Best regards.

Not able to digitally sign in Acrobat DC.

I received a signed PDF document requiring two authorizing signatures which does not allow modification (checked in File:Preferences).  I created a self signed digital ID with Acrobat DC and set the signature as the default.  When the document is opened in Sign & Fill the only option available is to validate the existing digital signature.  All other signing options are grayed out.  I have tried saving a copy of the file using File:Save As, but I could not see any option with that method control further modification.  How does one add another digital signature to the file?

Security preventing editing signed document

I have multiple invoices that need signing so combined into one document for ease of signer use and sent to Manager for each page to be signed.  All signed the document came back however I am now unable to edit document back into individual invoices which is required for digital document storage system I am using. Security states password authentication had been set up by author. I am the author of the document and did not set this up. Anyway resent making sure that No Security was selected on document and same thing has happened.  Any ideas? I can't ask my manager to open 30 emails a day for individual signing and I have to store digital docs in a specific way.

How do I get the 'Add Signature' option to appear under the sign menu in order to sign a PDF with my signature?

Hi,

I am trying to follow this guide for signing a PDF document.

Signing PDFs in Adobe Acrobat DC

I can get to this point:

While there are two signatures already there from previous documents, I need to add a third. There is no 'Add Signature' option.

Does something need to happen for this to be enabled?

I'm running Acrobat Pro DC 2015 Release Continuous | Version 2015.023.20056

Windows 10 x64 SP1 (Version 1607Build 14393.693)

Thanks!

Adobe Reader DC:

Continuous Version: 2018.009.20050

File Version: 18.009.20050.57426

Core Version: 18.2304

SO Windows 10 64 bits

We have problems signing PDF documents when the PKCS # 7 format is established and leaving the "Include signature revocation status" option unchecked as shown in the image.

acrobat1.jpg

Indicate that if the option "Include signature revocation status" is checked, then the signature and validation is done correctly, it is also correctly signed if the CAdES format is used instead of the PKCS # 7 format.

The problem arises when the signature is made through a CSP (Cryptographic Service Provider) that is not Microsoft's, through the logs of the CSP it is observed that the Acrobat Reader application establishes multiple hashes and finally requests the signature, but the result is that in the validation process of the signature it is indicated that the document has been modified, as it appears in the following image.

acrobat2.jpg

We have observed in the logs of the CSP, that when the signature and the validation are done correctly, only a single hash is established to sign and nevertheless when the validation is not correct during the signature process, the Acrobat Reader application establishes multiple hashes in the CSP.
This problem is presented with the latest version of Acrobat Reader DC, however using the version of Acrobat Reader 11 the signature is made in such a way that the subsequent validation is done correctly.

I am using Acrobat DC, updated to latest release.

In Reader, I get the error above with "Access is denied to this file"

In Acrobat DC (Pro), the windows is grey out and application hangs.

The digital signature I am using is government issued non-exportable smart card based one. The reader used is Gemalto CT30.

Would that be a Gemalto related issue? Or Adobe related?

Note that I can' use the signature to protect an MS Word document without a problem.

Save As Folder after Digital Signature

Hi

Having issue with Save As folder after digitally signing a PDF file.

If I open a PDF file directly from a folder and apply a digital signature, Adobe will take me to the same exact folder on the Save As prompt which is what I want.

However, if I open a PDF from a hyperlink in an excel document for example and digitally sign it, Adobe WILL NOT take me to the original file folder in the Saving As prompt.

It will take me to the folder location of the previously opened File instead to save the document which is an issue for us here.

How can I change this and make Adobe prompt me to save the document in its original folder when opening from a hyperlink?

Thanks for your help.

Password protecting my documents

Hi everyone,

I'm using adobe acrobat pro, and have used the security feature to password protect the file to restrict editing.

Basically, I don't want anybody copying my work.

But even when I do that, all I have to do is make a copy of the document and all the restrictions are removed for that document.

Is there a better/easier way to stop others from editing/copying my work?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Up until a few weeks ago, I could add a pdf to an Outlook message, open the pdf, add a password to open, close the pdf and send the email.

Now when I attempt to password protect the pdf within a message, the pdf opens the save as box and requires that I save the password protected pdf someplace before the password is added.

What is the difference between the Adobe Send for Signature and the Adobe Sign?

I have the full Adobe Apps and Package subscription and I use the Adobe Send for Signature feature regularly for documents to be signed by employees and contractors etc.

My question is, what is the difference between Adobe Send for Signature and the Adobe Sign that asks for additional money each month?  I thought with my full subscription I have everything Adobe offers?

Also, when I send an Adobe Send for Signature Document, where can I track the status of these documents and whether they have been signed or looked at etc.  I can't seem to find it anywhere in my account.

Seeing SHA256 as hash algorithm for signature instead of SHA1

$

This isn't a problem (from a security perspective, obviously), I'm just trying to understand what is going on here. I have a US government CAC/smart-card with certificates and private keys for encryption/signatures, and my X.509 certificate clearly specifies SHA1 with RSA as the hash/signature algorithm that it supports. This is confirmed by some specifications from the card manufacturer. But when I apply a signature to a PDF using my card in Acrobat Reader DC, I don't see a "using SHA1 warning," and when I examine the signature with "signature properties," "advanced properties," it shows me that the hash algorithm used was SHA256. How is that possible? Is the hash just being computed by the Adobe software instead of on my card? If that's the case, why does it matter which algorithm is supported or implemented by the card? Why was Adobe software displaying the "SHA1 warning" to users just a few months ago?

How can I "change style" of my signature? The "change style pull down does not offer any other styles -- they are all just the basic printing of my name? (Windows, Acrobat DC, recent update)

I have always added a signature via the "Fill & Sign" function for basic forms. I did so as recently as two days ago. Now, my previously saved signature (which I've used for a long time) no longer comes up as an option to use. When I try to create a new signature, all I can do is type my name in the box -- the "Change Style" tab does not have any options for additional "styles" of signature. I need to be able to use a signature that LOOKS LIKE a signature, but all I can get now is a basic printing of my name.

I have tried the directions here: Signing PDFs in Adobe Acrobat

And I know that I could use the "Certificates" function -- but I do not want to do that. I merely want to reproduce a signature-looking image and then protect the document -- but the "signature" function is not working properly for some reason.

I have rebooted the computer, checked settings, done every single thing that I could possibly think of -- but a function I have used for years no longer works.

Prevent Delegation

I do not want to allow recipiant to delegate the document for signing. Is there any options that disable this?

Why is my signature suddenly gone?

$

I had a saved signature in Adobe that whenever I needed to sign a doc, I clicked "place signature" and an image of my signature was available to drag onto the doc. Now, when I try, it's saying "To begin signing, choose the 'Drag New Signature Rectangle' button, and then drag out the area where you would like your signature to appear." I don't understand where my signature went. I have been using it for years. I can still place my initials. What is going on?
