Display Friendly Names by Default?

$

Is there an Adobe configuration or registry setting that will display the "friendly name" of a certificate by default in Adobe Acrobat XI?

A user can do this manually: Preferences | Signatures | Identities & Trusted Certificates | More... (button) | Usage Options | Personalize

The interesting thing is that when manually personalizing a certificate, the certificate friendly name is automatically detected and populated for the user with what is configured with Windows.  Is there a way to have Adobe recognize this without the user having to go through these steps?

Electronic signature

Hello,

I have carefully read the tutorial on the use of electronic signatures Abobe Reader (I have version XI) but I didn't understand how to use it for my use.

In the company I work, I want to use Adobe Reader in order to electronically sign documents. When these documents are written, the writer doesn't have to sign. These documents should be sent to an approver who will sign and approve the document. Once approved, the document must be sent to readers who must also sign the document.
This document is available on our computer network, I wish that all the signatures are on the same document. Is this possible?
Is it necessary to use ECOSIGN? For safety issues I don't want to put the document online.
Does the use of digital ID to send an email?

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Data encryption policies and personal passwords lost with the upgrade from Acrobat Pro to Acrobat DC

Good evening.

I searched similar discussions, but I haven't found anyone. I apologize if this is a duplicate question.

I have noticed that after the update of Acrobat DC, my password settings (Adobe Pro) weren't updated into "Security > Password Encryption" menu.

Without warnings or clear explanation before installing the new sw: this is a real problems if somebody have many policies based on different behaviors and/or different customer targets.

Now, how can I recover my lost settings?

Many thanks in advance.

Creating a timer lock out for pdf documents

Hi all,

I was hoping someone could help me. I am looking to put a timer on my .pdf document that after say 1 week 2 weeks etc. it will terminate or be unviewable. Obviously this will not stop people printing however I want to stop the distribution of the soft copy form of my documentation. Is this a possibility? I know the Australian Standards documents, when viewing a student copy, go green after a time period of download.

I was wondering if anyone knew how to do something similar.

Thanks in advance

how do i sign multpile pages at once?

i work from home and i am not always able to get into work on time to sign documents so my job allows me to use pdf signature. i have a stack of document 50-70 pages every month that require my initials on the top corner of every page. i have been converting the documents to pdf and then signing the top corner of every page with e-signature and then emailing to my job, however this is very time consuming. so i was wondering if there is a way to sign the corner of every page at once. my job prints the pages out and puts them in the records they belong in so we are not using it as a secure e-document so it doesnt matter is every signature except the last is invalid as long as they are all visible.

let me know if any has any suggestions

thanks

Secure PDFs "unlock" in browser window view, allow printing and saving

We are having a problem. We secure our PDFs so printing is not allowed before posting them on our WordPress website. The problem is, when people open them in any browser they are now able to print them just fine. The only way the PDF is locked is if you save it to your PC and then try to print it. We need to be able to post LOCKED PDFs to our website. This feature worked fine prior to the latest Adobe Reader XI update. I feel like this is a bug. Is anyone else having this issue? How could we fix it?!

The same document, only one email, but many people to sign

Hello Everyone,

I have just started to use Adobe eSign first time. I have insurance application documents which must be filled out and signed by my clients.

There is one person who takes care of the group of people and I only have his email, as main contact. If I send him application using "Fill & Sign" is clear for me that he can fill out and sign.
How do I use the same email but want have all of clients to use the same application?  Bear in mind that each person must input his/her own details.

I want to clear a signature on a DC document form that I created. I used to be able to do so by right-clicking the signature field and choose "Clear Signature" but that option is not available.

Password protected PDFs from Acrobat XI cannot be opened in DC when the password contains a hyphen

I have documents created in Acrobat XI that are protected with an Open Password.

The password contains a hyphen "-".

They open fine in Acrobat XI, but Acrobat DC refuses to open them: "The password is incorrect. Please make sure etc..."

Documents created in Acrobat DC that are protected with passwords that contain a hyphen do not have this problem.

I am working with the latest Mac OSX 10.10.3

Luckily I still have Acrobat XI installed, but it is a problem for those with the new Acrobat DC and the new Reader.

Possible to place a signature in Acrobat Pro DC?

$

In previous versions of Acrobat, I could easily add my signature to a PDF that a colleague had already signed.  This was useful (required actually) for documents that needed multiple levels of sign-off. It seems as though this is no longer possible in Acrobat DC unless the original document has signature fields added from the start.  Is there any way around this?  Most of the forms that I need to sign in this manner are not under my control...changing them is not an option.

OCSP in DSS seems to be invalid and may crash Acrobat

Hi there!

I'm currently facing some problems when we try to add a DSS to a timestamped document. Afterwards the timestamp is not marked as LTV in Acrobat and if we try to re-add the verification data via Acrobat it crashes. You can find the document in question here.

If I add the verification data to the initial version of the file via Acrobat, there's no problem.

I compared the DSS structure (actually I didn't left the Certs in the VRI entry which is done by Acrobat but this didn't makes a difference to the actual situation) and the OCSP response in detail and noticed that there's only a single strange difference:

ocsp-diff.png

This part represents the nonce extension in two ocsp responses (left by Acrobat - working, right by a webservice - not working). The extnValue isn't a valid ASN.1 structure which makes me thinks that this is the problem? The webservice/nonce in the request is out of our scope so I cannot play with this. I just want to ask if anybody can confirm that this little nonce value will let Acrobat crash and will ignore the response completely?

Any comment is welcome!

Thanks

Jan

Issue with placing digital signature in Adobe 9 Pro on Windows 8

$

As a member of the Application Support Group for Pfizer I assist user with software related issues. At the moment I'm stuck with the following:

A user has Adobe 9 Pro installed on his Windows 8 machine. Whenever he wants to sign a document with a reason, he get's the following error message:

Creation of this signature could not be completed.

Unknown error

Support information: CDSHandler-619

If he clicks OK and tries to sign again, it works and the document is signed. We have recreated the signature and deleted all old signatures from his system. The issue persists.

The issue is ongoing since the user migrated from Windows XP to Windows 8. We tested the following:

1. Creation of .pdf document by other user using Adobe 9 Pro or XI Pro

2. Creation of .pdf document by user using Adobe 9 Pro

In the latter, when a Word document is saved as a .pdf document, the signature is placed directly. In all other cases (.pdf from Word document in Adobe using Adobe 9 Pro or creation in Adobe 11) the error occurs and the second attempt is successful.

I have an appointment set to delete Adobe 9 Pro for the users system and install XI Pro, but just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

What can be the issue and how can it be resolved? Many thanks for your feedback.

How to identify digitally edited PDFs?

$

Hello, I received PDFs files from many people, the PDFs files are scanned. My clients fill the PDF on their computer and they print the document to sign. They scan the document and send me by email. The problem is, when I ask them to modify some information from their forms, in some cases my clients edit the same document digitally so the signature is exactly in the same position so the information they are filling if fake instead of make the all process again. I want to know if the PDF document after scanned were modified by any software.

Is there any version/function/add-in in Adobe Acrobat or third parties software I can use to detect if the structure of the PDF were modified by someone after the scanning?

Security permissions changing (allows creation of template pages, page extraction) after allowing filling of form fields OS X yosemite

$

I have a PDF in which I want to allow only the following without a password: opening, printing, copying for accessibility, and filling of form fields (signing as well if that is part of this).

When I allow the filling of form fields, the acrobat for some reason also allows page extraction, creation of template pages, which I don't want (allows altering of my document?).

When I only allowed printing and no changes at all (no form filling), extraction and template creation were not allowed.

How do I remove extraction/template creation and keep printing, filing of form fields, copy for accessibility (allows them to view the document?)?

I'm using a macbook pro 2011 on Yosemite OS X with acrobat XI pro.

Thank you
