When I had XP, I could right click on a signature field and clear the signature.  Now I have Windows 7 and that doesn't work.  How do I clear a signature out of a signed, saved document?

I can't electronically sign a PDF document

I have a PDF document (visa application) which requires an electronic signature however all the 'sign' options that are avaliable to me do not seem to work. When clicking on the 'Sign' option to the right side of the document all the options in the drop-down menu remain greyed out meaning I cannot use them. I have checked the security details of the document and 'signing' is allowed. I'm currently using Adobe reader XI. I've never used this before and have exhausted all means of trying to solve the problem myself so it would be greatly appreciated if someone could please help me out.

I've created a PDF which needs to be printed physically, however, I do not want the option of it being printed to a PDF becauset that will remove all of the protective measures set forth on the document. Is there a way to ensure that my document is protected from editing and printing to a pdf, but still able to be printed in paper form? I am utilizing Acrobat X.

Enabling usage rights in Adobe Reader corrupts PDF text

Hi,

I've created a registration form using Open Office writer which has editable fields. I convert this to a PDF and then add a signature field in Acrobat 8.

At this point everything works fine, all the editable fields etc convert across, but I want people to be able to sign and save the form in Reader, so I check the "Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader" feature and save it. Now when I open the PDF in either Acrobat or Reader all the text is completely corrupted and illegible (see image).

Any idea what's going on here?

Thank you

Paul

Hello All,

I have a Request For Change document that contains two sections that needs to be filled out at seperate dates. Is there a process in which a user can fill out the first part of the form, digitally sign the document, continue on with the second part of the form at a later date, then digitally sign it again (there are two different signature fields)?

I am using Adobe Professional/Reader 8.

Thanks,

-Ben

Using / Having a Digital Certificate and an Image Signature

I work for an Engineering Design firm and we have engineers with a Digital Certificate to sign and certifiy drawings, calculations etc...  However there are some documents that they need to sign that just need a simple image signature.  Is there a way to have two different signatures to choose from?  I do know that you can save a signature as a Stamp, but that never seems to look right, so if i can avoid it I'd like to....Thanks.  I am using Adobe XI Pro, Windows 7 (64 bit).

"Ink" Signatures in Acrobat Pro XI

I upgraded to Acrobat Pro XI and I can't find a way to use my Wacom tablet to write or sign on a document.  In the previous version under the sign tab there was a "place ink signature" where I could write with my Wacom tablet.  It seems to have been replaced in XI with a "Place signature" button that allows you to create a saved "ink" signature and then just "stamp" that signature when you click on the "Place signature" button.  That is great most of the time, however I often get documents where this button will not work.  On some documents when I click it I get a dialog box that says:

To electronically sign this document or place initials, please click save a copy.

THis is obviously not what I want to do.  I don't want to electronically sign the document.

Two questions:

1.  Why does this happen on some documents while with others the "ink signature" that is saved works fine.

2.  How do I just "write" on a document with my tablet?

setting up usage rights and extracting pages

I create a lot of contracts and sometimes I get in 300 at a time. Each one needs a signature and date field. It works great to do one at a time, but that is quite time consuming.

In order to expedite the process, I recently printed the contracts in one file, set up the signature and date fields using the easy peasy fillable forms, and then hit the enable user rights. And, of course, saved. I then extracted all the pages seperately. On my end it appeared to work just fine. But after I sent them out a lot of the people complained saying they couldn't sign it due to security rights: "The security settings on this document prevent adding text and/or placing a signature on this document using Adobe Reader. To fill out and sign this document you need to print it out." But not everyone seems to be having trouble.

Other than extracting the files, I did the same exact thing I always do when I do them individually. Any reason why the security portion "messed up"? Any ideas would be appreciated. Or if anyone knows how I can speed up the process in another way I'll take any ideas. Thanks!

If it helps I have Adobe Acrobat XI Pro on Windows 7.

Signing a PDF/A with a JPG image, invalidates the compliance

I am trying to sign a PDF/A document.

I can't do it with Adobe Acrobat without invalidating the PDF/A compliance. So I am using our tool to sign the file.

When I use a BMP as the graphical represenation of the signature, the file remains compliant, if we use a JPG image the compatibility fails.

The only difference between the two PDF/A files (compliant and incompliant) is the XObject that is different (one is simple neat bmp object, the other is a JPG, with Fileter /DCTDecode etc.).

I would like to know if there is any way I can make the JPG image to work without invalidating the PDF/A compliance, or is it inevitable, as a JPG object has attributes that contradict basic concepts of PDF/A.

Thanks

Tal

Apply Ink Signature

I am using Windows 7 & Acrobat XI.  When I opened the form, clicked "Extended" -> "Apply Ink Signature", the cross-hair cursor showed up, but nothing was displayed when I drew on the form.  Strangely, sometimes, after a few minutes or so, I tried drawing on the form again, and this time, it worked.  But when I tried to drag or resize the signature, nothing happened.

I also tried clicking "Place Signature".  The message "Using your mouse, click and drag to draw the area where you would like the signatue to appear.. ..." is displayed.  When I clicked the mouse on the form, the message "A signature was not created.  To sign the document hold down the mouse button and drag out the area of the document in which you would like the signature to appear." popped up.  Every time I clicked the mouse, this message appeared over and over again.

Is there anyone experiencing the same problems?  Any solutions?

Thanks in advance!

javascript for adding image signature with date in action wizard

I'm having trouble with adding my scanned signature into 100 PDFs in a batch.

I found the following javascript code (A) online but it's for adding "invisible signatures".

http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1169781

As discussed in the above link, I modified (A) to (B) by taking out the login part

but I don't know if putting my scanned PNG signature as appearance is correct.

After running the code, I don't see any signature on my PDF.

I don't know how to add the date and time either.

Anyone please help?

---------------------------(A)------------------------------

Sign all documents

Batch sequence name: Signature SignAll.sequ.

Task: Create an invisible signature on each of the selected files.

Example2.12 Sign all documents

/* Signature Sign All */

// Choose handler

var ppklite = security.getHandler("Adobe.PPKLite");

// Login -- change as appropriate

ppklite.login("dps017", "/C/Profiles/DPSmith.pfx");

// Add a signature field with zero dimensions (invisible)

var f = this.addField("Signature", "signature", 0, [0,0,0,0]);

// Sign it and log out. Change as appropriate

f.signatureSign(ppklite,

{ password: "dps017",

location: "San Jose, CA",

reason: "I am approving this document",

contactInfo: "dpsmith@mycompany.com",

appearance: "DPSmith"});

ppklite.logout();

----------------------------(B)-----------------------------

addField("Signature", "signature", 0, [200,200,200,200]).signatureSign({appearance: scanned_png});

Acrobat X (German) (latest patch release)

Windows 7-64 (German)

We have the Problem that quite a long Text for the Field "Reason" in a DigSig not alwas is displayed in full length.

The Reason is 303 Characters long (legal Text) on some Workstations, in some Documents, with a changing Size of the Signaturefield different amount of Characters are displayd. From somewhere 240 up to the full 303.

Until now I was not able to find a stable pattern for the occurance.

Due that is a legal Text fof a Government Agency it has to work.

Hope that anybody has an Idea.

Regards from Switzerland

Erich
