redacting overlapping text

I need to remove text that is underneath other text. I am able to redact the unwanted text, but where it is redacted it leaves an empty space. It not only deletes the underlapping text, it also deletes the text on top that I want to keep.

Is there a way to remove the underlying text while leaving the text on top?

Signing a PDF on the iPad, then adding a digital signature

Hello,

I'd like to create a form (in, say, Acrobat XI) and distribute it to salespeople travelling. I want them to fill out the fields, and have the customer sign on screen. This all works great -- question is, can they then digitally sign the document somehow, so both them and the client have a digitally signed copy, rather than just a PDF each side can claim is fake?

Thanks,

How can I securely present a PDF on the web?

Hi,

is there any Adobe tool that would allow me to present a PDF on the web, so that visitors can open and browse through a PDF but can not download or alter the content? I know there are services that convert a PDF into a "browseable" form, but is there any other way with Adobe's own tools?

Thanks.

How can I share my digital signature with another user at another physical location?

How can I share my digital signature with the rest of my company at another location?

Here is a little more info - I created an export to which the extention is a .fdf, I then emailed it to the home office, where we tried to import it. It appears as if I can in fact see it, but the signature is NOT available for use? I feel like I have done something incorrect as there isn't any secruity questions asked.

Digital signatures for customer facing documents

Hello,

I am a pretty experienced user of Adobe TechComm Suite (FrameMaker, RoboHelp), but I've never needed to dig too deep into Acrobat, so I am a newbie when it comes to setting up digital signatures.

I am using Acrobat Pro XI on Windows 7 professional, and the people who need to approve documents only have the free Adobe Reader. I don't have access to any sort of workflow system at the moment, and we aren't using a content management system. Adobe EchoSign is not suitable for our documents because of size restrictions and because 3rd-party cloud storage violates corporate policy.

What I'd like to be able to do is this:

  • Include a signatures page when I create a PDF of a document. Place the document at a shared network location (Windows network).
  • Notify approvers (Outllok email) that they need to digitally sign a PDF at a shared network location.
  • See the digital signatures and see that they all are valid.
  • Send out the signed PDF to external customers, in a way that it doesn't show customers that the document includes a form, and doesn't ask for more signatures, but does confirm that the PDF has not been changed since it was signed. Customers must be able to print all or part of the PDF if they want to.

I have a feeling that I may be missing some steps or some external components. Any advice on how to set this up would be welcome.

Thanks very much,

David

Unintended security settings, padlock icon?

$

The last two PDFs I've saved (vXI 11.0.03, OSX ML) with my standard security settings--no changes allowed, printing and everything else allowed, no password required to open or download--have somehow become locked. The file appears with a padlock icon  instead of its cover page facsimile. Users of Mac browsers and tablet/phone devices are either unable to download the files without a password or unable to open the file if download completes. Interestingly, users of Windows browsers don't experience download or open issues.

On checking, I found that security is set to conditions other than what I actually set when saving the files. If it had happened once, I'd say "user error" and be done with it. Happening twice makes that very unlikely. Is something going on with  security settings in Acrobat XI?

Thanks,

Karen

Clarification: Unintended (wrong) setting is "Require a password to open the document" box checked. Is there a reason that selecting the file attachment encryption radio button automatically selects this checkbox? If the PDF in question has no attachments,  would this matter? What is considered an "attachment" in this context? Thanks.

Trouble with Plagiarism

Hi everyone! Brand new to the Adobe community but I've used Acrobat for years.

Here's my question/problem:

I wrote a book about investing that I now can only distribute in hard copy because of problems with plagiarism, especially overseas.

I'd like to sell my book as a PDF again but need:

1) Airtight, unique passwords for each user

2) Some kind of watermark that appears when a printed copy is made.

Please help! I serve a market that has a lot of competition and many of them are unscrupulous; paying members have informed me of rampant plagiarism and I need to make it as hard on the bad guys as possible.

Thanks to anyone with feedback...

Keep Stepping,

Kurt

I just installed Acrobat XI Pro and I'm attempting to sign a PDF. According to the help, I should be able to scan a signature using a webcam, but I don't see that option available to me. My options are: Type my signature, Draw my signature, Use an image, or Use a certificate.

I have a MacBook Air with a built-in camera. I'm running OS X 10.8.4. What am I doing wrong?

I am woking with Acrobat Pro 10.1.7 on mac OS 10.6.8.

I made a new ink signature by scanning my signture and importing it in to Acrobat > Preferences > Security > New. That worked and I can see that signature under Preferences. When I try to sign a document, however, I cannot find that new signature when I go to Tools Panel > Sign and Certify > Sign Document. Why not?

Securing PDFs with passwords

I've been attempting to secure a document to prevent the copy - pasting of text, but it doesn't seem to work. I set the password, and then leave unchecked the tick box to enable copying and pasting of text. After saving the document, when I open it in Preview I can still copy and paste text.

I've now tried this with copies of Acrobat Pro 7, Acrobat Pro 9, and Acrobat Pro X - none seem to work properly.

Very frustrating - any help appreciated.

Timestamp server authentication issues

I'm using Adobe Reader XI and when using http timeStamp server that requires basic authentication is always tried without the needed BasicAuth field set.

That's the request adobe send

POST /cdie/HttpService HTTP/1.1

accept: */*

content-type: application/timestamp-query

content-length: 69

character-encoding: binary

user-agent: PPKHandler

connection: Keep-Alive

cache-control: no-cache

The reply is a simply HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized because the request hasn't the authentication field.

I've tried using Windows and Macintosh

Why didn't send the basic authentication?

How do I Secure my Text, but allow for page extraction?

We typically create large PDF documents from MS Word, thousands of pages per volume.  We want to still protect the Text, but allow recipient to extract (pages) sections to foward to specific users outside our organization.  We do not want to provide them with unocked documents, because our text is propietary, but understand there need to break down our document for ease of use.

Current options that I can find do not allow extraction under any Secure Mode.   HELP...

Adobe Reader enabling my fillable pdf

$

I'm sure this has been answered before, but I haven't been able to find a solution to my problem in my search through the forums.  I need to host a fillable form on a website.  That form has a signature field and I need it to be signed by people who may only have adobe reader.  I created the form normally and have no security settings; however, adobe reader users cannot sign the form using the signature field.  Next, I attempted to create the form as an echosign form, but it appears like that needs to be emailed to the signer, rather than downloaded from the website.  Is there a solution to this?
