Conversion of self-sign-signature from Acrobat Approval 5?
Hi,
we have created and use thousands of forms and doc in our QA management system. A few JavaScript functions to create some actions were included. All these documents are signed digitally with self created Acrobat self-sign signatures (PPKlite) certificates as available in Acrobat Approval 5. (Yes, still in use!)
Time has moved and we have now the problem to convert this system into a working model for today. As far as we know, Acrobat Reader is not able to sign such old forms with the same self-sign signatures. We do not want to start from scratch, but do not know how to proceed...
Has someone an idea how to move forward or to maintain the existing system. Acrobat Approval 5 is not able to show modern PDF files and is far beyond any scope of Adobe?
Any advice hint how to begin the conversion would be appreciated.
Best regards,
Andreas

Default certificate policies for DoD Root CA 2?
I receieved a PDF signed with a valid certificate issued under the chain DoD Root CA 2 > DOD CA-27. The signing cert was a soft-cert with certificate policies 2.16.840.1.101.2.1.11.5 (medium assurance) and 2.16.840.1.101.2.1.11.18 (medium 2048 assurance). The signature failed to validate ("The selected certificate path has errors: Invalid policy constraint") and it looks like the root cause is that Reader XI ships with 3 certificate policies (2.16.840.1.101.2.1.11.4, 2.16.840.1.101.2.1.11.9, and 2.16.840.1.101.2.1.11.19) defined for DoD Root CA 2 that don't include either of the policies in the signing cert.
It's possible to modify the policies for DoD Root CA 2 so that the signing cert is accepted, but it's a pain to explain to users and doesn't promote confidence in the signature.
Is there a better way to resolve this problem?
Who sets the default certificate policies and why would they not match the actual DoD PKI issuance policies?
Long Term Signature & Advanced functionality of Reader (measurement) not compatible with the PDF/A

the PDFs digitally signed are not compatible with the standard PDF/A

Certificates no longer work for signing when moving to Acrobat XI
When Attempting To Digitally Sign In Acrobat XI pro , I get the error
"The Windows Cryptographic Service Provider reported an error:
The requested operation is not supported.

I upgraded to Acrobat XI pro from Acrobat 9 pro
Security Policy
I am trying to determine if it is possible to establish a security policy that allows for the following:
- A PDF form downloadable from the web
- The form should be available to be opened and completed by anyone (using Adobe Reader)
- The PDF form should be submitted, but once submitted, it becomes protected/encrpyted so that only a predetermed computer/contact can open it.
Is this possible?
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Where is my signed document that I am tracking?
I distributed a form for multiple signatures and have a document that shows the responses and can track who has signed. When I click on tracker it says at the top of that box that the form has been successfully distributed. Responses will be combined into a single file. Where is that file? Everything I click on shows a form with no responses.
How do I import signatures received by email into my PDF?
I asked a question yesterday, but I think what I need to know is how do I import all of the signatures into my document? When I click on someone's name in the respnse file, I see their signature, but not anyone elses that has been added. I'm thinking I am supposed to somehow add them to one single document but assumed that would happen automatically. Thanks for your input!
Are my pdf files secure when I make them or are they for all to see
I just wanted to know that when I make a pdf file on my computer, is it safe to my computer or is it for all to see and not secure. Anyone with input on this would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Digital Signature & Save As
Is there a way to have a document do a Save instead of a Save As after signing? When saving PDF forms from the Web (such as Sharepoint) that contain '%20' in the place of spaces (ASCII), the Save As removes these characters which in essence creates a copy of the document.
Error When Signing a Document (Using a new digital ID)
After designating a digital signature and attempting to save, I receive the following error:
Creation of this signature could not be completed.
Could not create appearance stream.
I attempted to try this on another computer and still the same error.
I can't seem to find anything about this error anywhere.
Can someone please help?
Thank you.
Can't remove digital id. Don't remember p/w.
I am trying to create a new digital id. Ask for my password. Don't have one; don't remember ever setting up an id or p/w. So I tried to delete any ids on my computer (single user). There are none listed. Now what? thanks.
How do you get Acrobat/Reader to use timestamp server rather than computer clock for "Signing Time"?
The signing time (that appears optionally on the signature block) is set by Adobe (Acrobat or Reader) to use the Computer time ***not the configured trusted timestamp server****. I have a CDS PDF-signing digital ID and timestamp server. I have the timestamp server configured and set as the default timestamp. Spent lots of time with Adobe on the phone - they promised to escalate for me. But it's been 2 weeks and I haven't heard anything.
I can set my clock on my computer to 1 week ago. The embedded timestamp on the digital signature is correct but the Adobe-displayed signing time is 1 week prior. I am concerned about having two timestamps on a digital signature that could conflict and offer the opportunity to repudiate the signature.
Anyone else have this problem and find a way to solve it?
PDF version control
For version control can a PDF auto delete or can a watermark appear after a period of time? I'm looking to distribute PDFs to external customers.
Sign button does not respond
Using Acrobat STD 9.2.0 on Win7, when I try to sign a document, I get the digital signature window showing my signature on the smart card, but when I selct the SIGN button, it does nothing. It worked before. Any ideas on the fix or how to troublshoot this?
Security Envelope: Changing the display info.
When sending documents to a client, I typically use the security envelope feature in Adobe Acrobat. However, when sending the envelope, the email address that appears on the envelope after attatching all the documents is my old email address. I would like to update the information that is displayed on the security envelope but I am not able to figure out how to do this?
How do I clear the signature requirement for routine PDF documents?
I'm using Acrobat XI and have never encountered a signature requirement before. Suddenly, any PDF I create pops up with a green banner telling me that Acrobat has detected a signature requirement. I can't get rid of it. I don't want it. And I can't find a preference selection to turn it off. This is so frustrating!
Problem with redactions re: electronic signatures in Acrobat X Pro
I am trying to redact a document in Acrobat X Pro and, when I apply redactions, it gives me the following message: In order to proceed, digital signatures must be removed and the document must be fully authorized. When I click ok, it says that an internal error has occurred and I am left with a document that I cannot apply redactions to. I cannot find anything about this online, any ideas as to what I can do? Thanks.
