Sharing PDF Printer Security Settings

Hi

We are rolling out Acrobat Pro XI to a group of people; we want all pdfs to be created with the same security settings.  I've created a security policy with the required settings (no ability to print, copy contents etc) and it shows up as the required DSA_Security policy within the Tools-Protection menu.  I believe I can copy that to all the machines so everyone has access to it.

My question is can I do the same with the PDF Printer, so if someone choses print - adobe pdf is it possible to have this security policy appear in the drop down list of the security setting in the print settings?  At the min all I see is Reconfirm security for each job or use last configuration.

I'd like to cover all areas so people can create their pdfs anyway they prefer.  Appreciate any pointers in the right direction.

Thanks

After downloading Adobe Acrobat, I am unable to open a .pdf.  I receive an error message that there is a task that is still active in Acrobat that needs to be closed.  When I go up to the file menu on Adobe Reader all option are grayed-out or unavailable, except hide file.  What gives?  I can't even shut down my computer because it says adobe reader is still active.  Please, help.  At this point I just want to turn my computer off.

Signature Field Insertion

Is there a way to insert a signature field of a predefined size by using a toolbar button or hotkey without having to enter the "form editing mode"?  Is this possible using a javascript?  I'm looking for a way of streamlining the appearance (size) of digital signatures across multiple users.  I currently have a dynamic stamp that is applied (engineer's stamp) and then the user drags the signature field over the stamp to apply the digital signature.  I'm trying to eliminate the user having to "drag" the signature field and instead have the signature field always inserted at a predefined size.  All users have Acrobat 9 Standard.

How do I Secure my Text, but allow for page extraction?

We typically create large PDF documents from MS Word, thousands of pages per volume.  We want to still protect the Text, but allow recipient to extract (pages) sections to foward to specific users outside our organization.  We do not want to provide them with unocked documents, because our text is propietary, but understand there need to break down our document for ease of use.

Current options that I can find do not allow extraction under any Secure Mode.   HELP...

Form Resaving Issue and Security Preferences

Hey Adobe Helpers-

I have a client whom I've made a PDF of a questionnaire that they supply their clients to fill out using forms I created using Acrobat.

On my machine, as well as a very older machine running XP, I have been able to open the doc, fill out the forms, save the document under a different title, and e-mail them with their information intact.

Now, I've sent this file to my client and they let me know they were not able to resave the file when testing out how filling out the form works, stating an error message reading, "Data typed into this form will not be saved. Adobe Reader can only save a blank copy of this form. Please print your completed form if you would like a copy for your records," which is not going to work for my client, which means it's not going to work for me either. The document needs to be able to be filled out and resaved under a new title and emailed back to my client.

Further looking into it, a contact sent me a screenshot of the PROPERTIES>SECURITY tab which states

-Document Assembly

-Content Copying for Accessibility

-Commenting

-Singing

-Creation of Template Pages

are all not allowed. So, I double checked that with the base document I sent over to them, and all of those security options are ALLOWED.

There has got to be something I am missing to make this file accessable to everyone.

Is it an issue with Acrobat vs Reader? What do I need to change or inform my client about in order to get this form working and be savable with the forms filled out.

And again- this is aggrivating on my end because I am not running into any of these issues on my multiple machines, and yet all of my contacts and my client are running into this issue, so I am feeling a bit in the dark on what's going on. If you have any info on this, please let me know as soon as you can.

FDF Files and Signature Fields

Hello,

I own several documents that have a field for signature. I open a template, fill the fields, sign the document and export to fdf.

The exported fdf has the signature field but not its content:

5 0 obj

<< / T (Signature1) / V << / Type / Sig >>>>

endobj

When i reopen a document i need the signatures.

Is there any way to achieve this?

Is it possible to quickly verify a document is signed/export the signed info into a document?

Hello,

I was torn between posting this in the javascript forum and this forum.  Hopefully I chose correctly.

I have several thousand files that each have 6-8 signatures each.   Our goal is to verify that each spot is signed and that they were signed in the correct order.

1. Is possible without javascript to quickly extract this information from a single document?  To say an excel document that gives the files name, signers name and date signed?  How about multiple documents?

2. If not possible without javascript, is it possible with javascript to quickly extract that information from a single document?  If so, what level of javascript knowledge would be required?  I.E. is this something that an experienced javascript programmer could knock out in a couple hours?

3.  Is there a pluggin/comcerial product available already that does this task?

Thanks.

Troubleshooting Electronic Signature in Adobe X Standard

Trying to assist a coworker in setting up an electronic signature with password.  When walking her through the screens, I noticed the "Add Digital ID" popup box does not show "Key Algorith" or "Use digital ID for" sections (mine does).  She does not get the prompt to make up a password and enter twice.  She says that she gets a box that wants her to enter a password but she has not created one.  Any assistance is greatly appreciated.  I am new to Adobe so I am limited in my knowledge.

Assign signature image to imported digital signature

I have a user who needs to be able to digitally sign documents for the State while using either his desktop or his laptop.  We have the desktop Acrobat X configured properly, where when he digitally signs a document, the signature image is included in his digital certificate.  To set up the signing on the laptop, I imported the .pfx file into Acrobat X on the laptop under Tools -> Sign & Certify -> More Sign & Certify ->Security Settings -> Digital IDs->Add ID-> from a file, where I browsed to the .pfx file.  I added the signature image under Edit->Preferences->Security->New where I imported the .bmp signature image exactly as I did on the desktop.  However, when he digitally signs a .pdf on the laptop, it just has a generic image of his name, not the signature image.  Where am I failing?

Unable to Encrypt with a Password

Hi, I'm using Acrobat Professional X and I cannot encrypt any document with a password. Instead, I get this message:

"Security settngs will not be applied to the document until you save the document. You will be able to continue to change seurity setttings until you close the document" the only option I have is "Ok" but if I click that, nothing happens...

I've repaired the installation, that didn't work so I uninstalled and reinstalled a fresh copy, that still doesn't work...

Please help!

P.S. it doesn't work on ANY PDF file. This is a Windows 7 64-bit operating system too

Mobile PDF signing

$

So I have been trying to create a "service report" for our company. I created a form with forms central, and all in all I just love the way it works. I tried doing it via excel and importing into reader to create a form. Maybe I was doing something wrong, but it would never read all my text boxes I had in excel. Then I would have to create text fields, which would be dozens! Forms has been really worth it now!

Anyways I am trying to iron out small details now. The PDF is built, and functions awesome except for a few "minor?" things.

1)This form is going to be distributed amoung a bunch of my workers, so they can fill out electronically on a tablet or phone. I do want to have signatures in there, which I can make happen. The few problems I am having is although the signature is created on the tablet or phone it never wants to show up when the office computer accesses the new saved file. I also want it to be able to be recognized on office computer in the actual signature space. Not just a "picture" that is displayed on the screen. Just for lockout pourposes mainly. We will have customer signatures on site, I want to be able to lock out all fields once it has been signed. So I am not sure if once I can get the desktops to recognize a mobile signature, if it will all just fall into place or not.

2)I have been looking into this whole echosign thing, but no matter how hard I try I can't find it anywhere on the mobile adobe reader app. Not sure if I am doing something wrong, but I am on the latest version. Just trying to see if it would be a better way for distribution. Basically now, the easiest way I can find of doing it is this: We have the "orignal" file on a google drive, that would then have to be saved to each device in order to edit of course. From there you would have to duplicate the file and rename it to your job and date. Then it could be uploded back into drive where the office can access it at anytime.

3)*edit* I also seem to have an issue when I try and put my signature options in. When I go to select the fields for read-only portion it won't select any checkboxes or anything. When I select select all it will select them, but as soon as I hit ok it all goes away and nothing happens!

Any input is MUCH appreciated. I tried doing a search but could really not find my answer.

thanks in advance!
